FOMBA Singletrack is officially opened for all of you who have been waiting. "For Saturdays trail maintenance we had 8 volunteers in attendance. Norie, Jack, Kirk, Carl, Dave, Steve, Mike and myself worked from 8 until 1:00 to clean up a few trails. And how sweet they are. If your reading this, thank you very much for your help. Unfornately 8 was not enough and we were not able to clean all the trails as planned. Most of the trails had all of the blowdowns removed, but there is still a lot of spoke breakers out there rolling around. I understand that you all have other committments and riding time is precious. But without members and volunteers, FOMBA doesn't happen on its own. So for those who just can't make it on Saturday mornings I'm planning on holding a weeknight evening session to finish the job intended for saturday. Stay posted for more details." Brand New Singletrack!, Sat. July 30th 2005
Good news, there is a brand new trail in the FOMBA maze! Thanks to everyone who volunteered and finished this big job in one day. It still needs some minor tweaks, but it should be one of the fastest trails to date when it is broken in. Kevin Cox did a great job laying this one out. Stay tuned for more news.
Lady Slipper Re-Route, Aug. 25th 2002
There was a great turnout for the next to last trail work day on Sunday, Aug. 25th. We met up at about 8:45 A.M. (Jack!) and jumped right on to the trail to start planning out the re-route. Lady Slipper is one of the oldest FOMBA trails and has held up great over the years. There was however a section of trail that was eroded beyond repair and needed to be re-routed. We added some serious distance to already awesome trail. These pictures are from a rather interesting section that we had to bench into the side of the hill.

The finished product looks awesome! None of us could wait to ride the new section we created, actually, Jim couldn't wait to use his own bike so he hopped on the scooter!
We bumped into a few riders who had just popped out of the trail head, they said they loved it. It will only get better over time, so get out there and check it out! Thanks to everyone who volunteered and thanks to Carl Swenson for the pictures. Keep in mind there is only ONE more trail work date for the 2002 season, Saturday, Sept. 7th.
2002 National Trails Day
The following are a few pictures taken by Carl Swenson at the 2002 National Trails Day held by FOMBA at Lake Massabesic. It was fun to be a part of it all, also it was a lot of hard work. In the end, it's a good feeling knowing that I helped put in a good days work on the trails we all enjoy riding.
My group consisted of about 9 people, we headed over to the Darcy Hart memorial trail to work on a water flow issue. We had to basically create a small stream to allow water to flow more towards the swamp area, rather than just puddle up right next to the trail. There were lots of roots and rocks to dig through, but as you can see by the photos, it was well worth the effort.
Another group headed over to the singletrack to do general maintenance and clean up. I finished off the day with a small ride, it doesn't get any better than that! Thanks to everyone who came out and volunteered. Well enough talk, I will let you all see the pictures for yourselves. Enjoy!
